University of Illinois Extension will present award winning columnist, talk radio host, and television personality, Mike Nowak, as the keynote speaker at Extension s annual one-day horticulture event, Gardening for Food and Fun, on Saturday, March 3, at the NIU Rockford Campus.
Mike Nowak will present a humorous and inspiring presentation, "Thriving in Hard Soil", a look at the possibilities and challenges of creating a community garden. Mike s presentation will draw from his own experiences with the Green on McLean community garden - interjecting humor and information. "Thriving in Hard Soil" will delve into the issues and ways to get involved and support the local food movement. Read more about Mike at his website www.mikenowak.net.
The 35th annual Gardening for Food and Fun event provides a day of gardening and natural resource education. A $40 registration fee includes the keynote address, admission to three sessions, and lunch.
