Resort-Style Trends in Senior Living

Rockford recently completed the construction of American House Coconut Point, a senior living community in Estero, Florida. At 180,000 sq. ft., the community offers 194 independent living, assisted living, and memory care apartments. American House Coconut Point also features a host of well-appointed amenities including a pool, putting green, shuffle board, theater and salon, along with game rooms, food service and landscaped courtyards. Resort-style residences that promote wellness and relaxation are a trend we’re seeing across the senior housing market.

From recreational activities to dining, communities are catering to new expectations. They are responding by offering things like multiple dining spaces and styles, with flexible hours similar to those of a traditional restaurant. Other communities have bridged the social gap of traditional senior living models by making activity and meeting rooms open and available to outside parties. In some cases, boutique salons or rehabilitation centers are able to operate independently within the community, serving both residents and the public alike. In these ways, and many others, communities have started to adapt to the changes that make the next generation of senior living residents comfortable.
