Originally constructed in 1966, Hotel Saint Regis is an icon in Midtown Detroit. Through the years, the hotel’s elegance served General Motors executives traveling to the Cadillac Building and other significant guests including Martin Luther King Jr., Mick Jagger, Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker, Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, George Clinton and more. Original design features included red fleur-de-lis tiles similar to those used in ancient European sidewalks, 23-karat gold-trimmed walnut paneling, crystal chandeliers and antiques from around the world. Honoring the history of the hotel was important in our work to renovate the lobby, restaurant, bar and guest rooms. Rockford maintained the architectural details inside while focusing on updates geared to reflect a more modern aesthetic. Located in Detroit’s New Center district with proximity to the QLINE, Hotel Saint Regis stands strong with stately elegance and a revitalized sophistication, paying tribute to its rich history.
