Rockford served as construction manager on the renovation of Lyon Square along the Grand River. This refreshed space between the DeVos Convention Center and the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel creates a flexible, four-season space that brings people together and connects them to the river. It establishes a memorable destination that promotes culture of engagement and inclusion by providing new park space, supporting river restoration and connection for the trail system. Lyon Square also provides traditional street access for neighboring buildings.

Rockford worked with city planners, community leaders and developers to create a more inviting, accessible and multifunctional plaza for Grand Rapids residents and visitors alike. ADA-compliant ramps and walkways were added to make the square easier to navigate for people of all abilities.
The new urban riverfront park features new seating, lighting, trees and greenery, and space for music, weddings and other events.
The sloped terrain of the square was redesigned to include terraced seating, green spaces, and shaded areas that make it more welcoming for both spontaneous visits and planned events.
