Overlooking Grand Rapids Christian Schools’ athletic complex, Rockford Self-Perform Trades transformed an existing concession building nestled into the hillside by adding a second-story addition that serves both administrative and community functions. The project created a new home for the school’s administrative offices while establishing a ground-level entrance from the upper campus.

The addition includes offices, collaborative workspaces, conference rooms and common areas, along with a donor wall crafted from reclaimed bleacher wood from the former gymnasium.

Beyond its administrative purpose, the facility enhances the spectator experience with an elevated observation deck overlooking the football field’s end zone. Featuring a patio and fire table, the space provides a welcoming venue for alumni, donor and community events.

Despite challenging winter conditions, Rockford’s team successfully maintained a watertight first floor while constructing above the existing building. The completed project reflects Grand Rapids Christian Schools’ commitment to excellence in faith, academics and athletics while creating a unique campus destination for students, staff, alumni and guests.
