This project created an interactive learning environment within the Grand Rapids Public Museum as a collaboration between Grand Rapids Public Schools (GRPS), the Museum and a number of higher education institutions in the area. The curriculum for the school is project-based and all of the traditional learning is integrated into the projects.

This heavy renovation project took place while the Museum was open to the public. The design and construction of academic space now serves grades 6-8, which consists of six state-of-the-art classrooms. A large, centrally-located collaboration space is also featured, along with a cantilevered staircase, connecting the third and fourth floors. Administrative offices and a conference room is also included in the project for Museum and GRPS staff.
