Serving as the Design-Builder, Rockford designed and constructed the 375,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art automated distribution center. Nearly 100 feet tall, the facility was built to fit around a custom Witron automated storage and retrieval system utilized to select and pack orders. Highly automated, orders are packed in a way that increases efficiency at the store level on an aisle-by-aisle basis. To accommodate the massive system, Rockford’s industrial team used the longest tube steel available in the country, as well as an expansive concrete floor utilizing a steel fiber-reinforced slab. The building also includes 25,000 sq. ft. of office space for employees, plus battery charging stations and a maintenance shop, and can accommodate parking for more than 400 tractor trailers.
