This effort included 60,000 sq. ft. of renovations to a previous manufacturing facility into office space which included the construction of a new underfloor HVAC air distribution system, providing greater flexibility on office furniture. Due to the fast paced nature of the project, Rockford was able to proceed in construction while the internal open office space layouts were still being finalized. Final coordination of the underfloor HVAC diffusers were field coordinated with Whirlpool’s final furniture system layout.

Additionally, due to the age of the facility, the entire exterior skin of the building was replaced to create a more efficient building envelope and to control energy costs. This also allowed for more natural light into the facility. The entire south face of the renovated area became a floor-to-ceiling curtainwall system, storefront and included punched window openings. Curtainwall was also added to a portion of the north elevation allowing views to the outside and natural light. A portion of the roof was also removed in the center of the building to create an internal courtyard to help give the building interior natural lighting and views to the outside.
