This summer we’re taking a more personal look at how our values – our cornerstones – affect each area of our business. With monthly challenges from June to September, we’re encouraging the entire Rockford team to think outside the box and apply the cornerstones to their day-to-day lives. This month, we focused on our first cornerstone: Business Thought Leaders.
As business thought leaders, we inspire change and drive innovation. We push forward groundbreaking ideas to make contributions that change the creativity, productivity, and functionality of built spaces. Being business thought leaders means we’re not just builders and doers – we’re solutionists.
For the month of June, we challenged our teammates to nominate an individual who exemplifies business thought leadership. We asked them to think of someone who uses creativity or a deep technical knowledge to overcome challenging situations. Someone who strives to better an existing process or speaks up to help others learn. We wanted to hear about people who uphold Rockford’s reputation for pushing forward groundbreaking ideas. The nominations we’ve seen so far have been empowering. Here’s a sample:
“Scott continues to look forward when discussing long term goals. He never accepts the “way we have always done it”, and challenges those around him to be better, think better.”
“Throughout the projects and meetings I’ve worked with Jeff on, he’s always been an out-of-the-box kind of thinker. He often brings new ideas to the table, that lead to important conversations and innovative approaches.”
“Todd leads by what is right for people on all sides, no matter the process. He is a great mentor that will challenge you to follow a process but think for yourself and recognize when it does not fit the situation. He also empowers you to be creative.”
At Rockford, we recognize that no contribution is ever too small. Bold innovator or quiet contributor, we all have the capacity to be business thought leaders. Next month, we’ll be back with a new challenge that focuses on Built-In Value.
