The golden yellow and auburn red leaves have been covered with sparkling white snow. This can only mean one thing: Thanksgiving is over and holiday decorating is in full swing! If you’re looking to decorate on a budget or want to spruce up your apartment but aren’t sure how to do it safely, we’ve got you covered.
One of the best ways to get into the holiday spirit is to place a small, decorative Christmas tree inside your space. Smaller artificial trees are often more cost-effective than their large counterparts, and you can find fun variations on the traditional green, too – white and fluffy, pink and feathery, or black and shiny! Plus, these smaller trees are easier to store. And you can add fun ornaments to your tree from local shops, like Rebel.

If you prefer the smell of a real tree, consider lighting a holiday-scented candle – bonus points if you support Michigan-based brands! Check out Evil Queen, a Traverse City-based, woman-owned candle company with snarky candle names and amazing scents. Forgetful and worried about leaving a candle out? Shop for battery-operated votives (easily found on Amazon) and add a plug-in scent from Glade or Bath and Body Works.

Spruce up your bar cart, end tables or entertainment centers with small trees, garland and fun holiday characters from Target’s Dollar Spot section. This is a great section to shop, save and add small holiday cheer throughout your apartment.
Finally, head to Michaels, Joann, Hobby Lobby or any craft retailer and pick up an assortment of wreath decorations. While they are labelled for wreath-making, these fake foliage pieces look great when combined and added to a vase! With a wide variety of styles and colors to choose from, you’re sure to find something that matches your aesthetic.

After you are done decorating, make sure to share your apartment with the Rockford Property Management community! Tag us in your posts on Facebook and Instagram and use the #RCommunity hashtag.
