Rockford’s Precision Services team brings quick, responsive and efficient full-service support from start to finish for projects of all sizes. As a team composed of skilled craftspeople, the Precision Services team is dedicated to providing turnkey and tailored in-house solutions, delivering high-quality work while maintaining a fair and competitive cost. Patrick Wilhelm leads and works alongside a team of project managers, estimators, designers, tradespeople and support team members. Together, they take on projects of all sizes — from small repairs to full building construction, overseeing everything from initial concept through final turnover. Being a leader to these team members is more than managing projects. Wilhelm finds the most important aspect of his position to be coaching, mentoring and developing his team so each individual can continue to grow and own their craft.
Long before Wilhelm found himself leading the group, he was a “boots on the ground” team member, first starting as a facility manager on the commercial side. Later, he spent time in the field as a carpenter and superintendent before transitioning into project management. Patrick and his experience in the field played a key role in launching and growing the team into what it is today.[KB1]
“I’ll be celebrating 29 years with Rockford this June, which has given me the opportunity to grow alongside the company and be part of its evolution,” said Wilhelm. “Having worked in nearly every role along the way has shaped how I lead today. I understand the challenges our teams face in the field, and that perspective helps me support them and build a culture where everyone can succeed.”
Precision Services also supports the broader Rockford team by partnering with construction teams, collaborating with development on tenant improvement (TI) work and assisting property management on larger or more complex efforts. This cross-collaboration allows the team to respond quickly, streamline communication and deliver more seamless outcomes for clients. By working closely with multiple disciplines across the organization, Precision Services enhances efficiency, reduces handoffs and ensures a consistent level of quality from start to finish.
There have been many projects over the years where this integrated approach has been utilized. Standouts in Wilhelm’s mind include high-end carpentry work for Corewell Health and numerous Amway projects such as The Commons and Treehouse.
“These projects really highlight the versatility of our team and our ability to execute detailed, high-quality work,” said Wilhelm. “We take pride in being able to step into a variety of environments and deliver solutions that meet the unique needs of each client.”
As Wilhelm looks to the future, he sees more general contractors following suit by developing self-perform teams and keeping more work in-house. This evolution reflects a broader industry shift toward greater control, increased accountability and improved project outcomes.
“This approach improves efficiency, increases flexibility and helps reduce overall project costs,” said Wilhelm. “It also allows us to be more responsive to client needs and maintain a higher level of craftsmanship throughout the process.”
