Originally constructed in 1971, Rockford recently renovated the existing Lydia M. Olson Library within Harden Hall. The two-story renovation consisted of selective demolition of the main entry and second and third floors, a new curtainwall main entry, upgrades to the basement mechanical, a fourth floor addition and a new grand entry staircase. Several existing operations and departments were relocated throughout the building while it remained fully operational.
Our team constructed a temporary roof during the construction of the fourth floor addition. The existing elevator pit was reused and the existing shaft extended up two floors. Both the first floor and the academic mall/main campus area remained in use during the course of construction, causing site access to be limited throughout the duration of the project.
